Why We Exist

(Our Background Story )

Unemployment has become a silent pandemic in Africa, persisting over the years and worsening the continent’s economic challenges. This crisis predominantly affects the youth demographic. In Kenya, for instance, the overall unemployment rate stands at 12.7 percent, but for individuals aged 15 to 34, the figure skyrockets to 67 percent—nearly five times higher than the national average. These troubling trends are not unique to Kenya; similar statistics emerge across the continent.

Currently, Africa is home to approximately 200 million youth aged 15 to 24, representing about 40 percent of the continent’s workforce. Given the rapid population growth, these numbers are projected to double by 2045. This highlights the urgent need for action, as unemployment poses a looming crisis for Africa.

As we confront this issue, global organizations are actively seeking skilled and affordable labor—qualities that Africa’s youth possess in abundance. With a significant population of educated and skilled young individuals, the key challenge lies in bridging the gap between them and available job opportunities.

To position our workforce strategically for global job markets, it’s essential that our youth acquire relevant education and skills from international learning institutions. Increasing access to educational opportunities worldwide is crucial for enhancing the attractiveness of our workforce on the global stage.

However, as we strive to open doors to global opportunities, we also face two significant challenges. Firstly, many foreign countries are grappling with housing shortages and rising costs of living, partly due to growing immigrant populations. Secondly, there is a pressing risk of brain drain in Africa. With overseas opportunities appearing increasingly appealing, we risk losing our top talent to foreign markets, leaving our continent vulnerable.

Balozi Connect is committed to addressing these pressing issues, seamlessly facilitating access to opportunities for those in need while positively impacting their communities. Our mission is to transform the landscape of employment for Africa’s youth, ensuring that they not only thrive locally but also contribute to the global economy.
